Terms of Use
The rules for using Unravel, and what you can and can't rely on in its answers.
The short version
Using Unravel
By using Unravel (the website and its answer service) you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. "Unravel", "we" and "us" mean the people who run the project at github.com/meetaminx/unravel.
What Unravel does
Unravel answers questions about Zcash. It searches a fixed set of documentation passages captured on a stated date, asks an AI model to write an answer from them, and checks each sentence against the passage it cites. Sentences that pass are linked to their source. Anything that doesn't pass, and any background Unravel adds on its own, is labelled as an explanation or as unverified.
When the sources don't cover a Zcash question, Unravel may search the web or give a general answer from the AI model. These answers are clearly labelled, because they haven't been checked against Unravel's own sources.
Accuracy and no advice
- Answers may be wrong. AI models make mistakes, sources change, and web pages can be inaccurate. A passed check means a sentence matches its source, not that the source is correct or current.
- Verify before you act. Before you ship code, change a node or wallet setup, or move funds, confirm the details in the linked specification, implementation or official documentation.
- Not advice. Nothing on Unravel is financial, investment, legal, tax or security advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold ZEC or any other asset.
- Not official. Unravel is independent. It is not made, endorsed or reviewed by the Zcash Foundation, ZODL, Shielded Labs, or any other Zcash organisation.
Fair use
Please don't:
- try to get around rate limits, or send automated or bulk requests to the answer service;
- use Unravel to build or run another service, or resell its answers as a product;
- attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse engineer the service or its providers;
- submit unlawful, harmful or abusive content, or other people's personal information;
- type seed phrases, private keys or passwords. Unravel never needs them.
We may limit or block access that breaks these rules or puts the service at risk.
Content and ownership
- Sources. Passages and linked pages belong to their authors and publishers. Unravel shows short excerpts and paraphrases to explain and cite them, and links to the original.
- Your questions. You keep any rights you have in what you type. You allow us to process it to produce your answer, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Answers. You may use the answers you receive for your own work. Because answers are generated by AI and drawn from third-party sources, we can't promise they are free of others' rights.
- Unravel itself. The name, logo, design and code belong to the Unravel project unless the repository states otherwise.
Third-party services
Unravel relies on outside providers, including Groq for AI answers and web search, and Vercel for hosting. Their availability and policies are outside our control, and features may change or stop if a provider changes its service.
No warranty
Unravel is provided free and "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We may change, pause or end any part of the service at any time without notice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the people behind Unravel are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, Unravel or its answers. This includes lost funds, lost data, lost profits, and indirect or consequential losses. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Unravel changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above when we do. If you keep using Unravel after an update, you accept the new terms.
